The Top Places to Visit in Egypt in 2020

With a history that dates back to the beginning of civilization, Egypt has always been a place of fascination and charm for the travelers. The towering pyramids, the expansive deserts, and certainly the rich cultural tradition, have brought travelers to the shores of River Nile time and again. After all, the list of places to see in Egypt is pretty long, and definitely very interesting at the same time.

So, out of the many places to see in here, what are the absolute must-sees on your Trip to Egypt? Let’s find out right here!

Giza Necropolis

Giza Necropolis is located near the southwest Cairo, and it is, in fact, one of the most renowned ancient places in the world. The Sphinx, right below the Giza plateau, along with the pyramids, form the iconic image people have in their minds when they think of Egypt.

It took three generations to complete the work that you see today: it started with Khufu, then his son Khafre, and then Menkaure, his grandson.

Luxor

The New Kingdom came up in Egypt a thousand years after the Great Pyramids were made. The seat of power changed to Thebes from the earlier capital city of Memphis. Thebes is what you call Luxor these days.

This is one of the top places to visit in Egypt, and it has a lot to offer to a traveler. There are the ancient tombs at the Valley of the Kings and Queens, the temples of Karnak, and a beautiful riverside scenery.

Cairo

The capital city of Egypt is one bustling, busy metropolis that holds in its heart a turbulent and long history. It is located near Memphis, and this is where travelers take their Nile cruises. You can also go exploring the pyramids from here because those are right outside this city.

Make sure you pay a visit to the museum at Tahrir Square. You will get to see the mummies, the treasures of Tutankhamun, and other Egyptian artifacts here.

Aswan

Situated on the northern banks of Lake Nasser, Aswan is the southernmost city of Egypt. This place serves as the starting point of many tours in Egypt.

You can go exploring the Philae and Kabasa temples from here, or the Sun Temple located at Abu Simbel. In fact, you will have to come here even to visit the temples of Edfu and Kom Ombo.

Dahshur

Dahshur is located on the western banks of Nile, about forty kilometers from Cairo to the south. This is more isolated and peaceful compared to other places on this list.

There are some magnificently large pyramids in here, as well, like the Red Pyramid and the Bent Pyramid, which were made during Pharaoh Sneferu’s reign. However, the visitors are fewer in number. So, no snaking queues for tickets and no photo-bombing tourists in your pictures.

Go ahead, book your tickets, and pack your bags! The land of the Pharaohs and the Pyramids awaits your arrival.
